Knife-Wielding Robber Caught After Two Years on the Run

Faisal Yousaf, 20, finally landed behind bars two years after a terrifying knife-point robbery on Frog Walk in May 2018. The Sheffield man, from Violet Bank Road, Nether Edge, dodged police until his arrest in May 2020.

Five and a Half Years for Vicious Attack

Yousaf, found guilty of robbery in December 2020, was handed a hefty five and a half year prison sentence. The attack targeted a young man near the bustling Ecclesall Road, one of Sheffield’s busiest streets.

“This was a nasty attack and robbery on a young man near one of Sheffield’s busiest streets, Ecclesall Road,” said DC John Briers.

“The victim was followed by a group of men, who threatened him with a knife, stole his phone and wallet, then punched him in the face.”

Another Accomplice Already Serving Time

Abdulrahman Yafooz, 24, from Morgan Road, Sheffield, was quickly caught and sentenced to six years for the same robbery back in November 2018. He remains in prison.

Police Praise Victim’s Bravery and Persistence

DC Briers thanked the victim for his ongoing cooperation since the ordeal. “I’m pleased we finally brought Yousaf to justice and that he’s received a proper sentence,” he added.
