Nottingham Crime Boss Banned After Repeated Theft Spree
Daniel Higginson, 25, has been slapped with a tough criminal behaviour order (CBO) after a spree of shoplifting and nuisance offences in The Meadows and West Bridgford. Police acted fast to curb his damaging antics with a three-year ban from key local spots.
Higginson Forbidden From Local Stores and More
The ex-con, who has no fixed address, is banned from entering or loitering near Co-op stores in the Bridgeway Centre and Bridgford Road, plus Sainsbury’s Local in Melton Road, West Bridgford. The order also forbids him from hanging around cash machines or ticket machines and from begging for cash, food, or other items in West Bridgford town centre.
Shoplifted Meat, Spirits, and Cleaning Products
The criminal behaviour order follows Higginson’s thefts between 13 and 28 January 2023, including meat and cleaning products from the Co-op in The Meadows and bottles of spirits from the Bridgford Road Co-op. After his arrest, Higginson pleaded guilty to nine counts of theft.
Police Praise Teamwork in Tackling Crime
“Higginson is a prolific criminal whose persistent offending has had a hugely detrimental impact on local businesses and their employees who simply should not have to put up with his appalling behaviour,” said Inspector Karl Thomas, Nottingham South district commander.
“Thanks to excellent collaboration between neighbourhood policing teams, shopkeepers, Safer Streets wardens, and the Crown Prosecution Service, we secured this criminal behaviour order to protect our communities.”
Inspector Rob Lawton, of Rushcliffe police, added: “Shoplifting and antisocial behaviour cause distress to businesses, residents, and visitors. We will continue to take strong action against offenders.”
Rushcliffe council environment chief Rob Inglis said: “This order shows how effective partnership working makes a real difference in keeping our communities safe.”
Higginson was sentenced to eight months in prison at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 2 February 2023.
