Parr Thief Locked Up for Stealing and Tampering with Cars

John Corrigan, 21, from Parr, has been sentenced to 18 weeks behind bars. The conviction came after two theft offences – one in Sutton Leach where he fiddled with a BMW in October, and another in Earlestown in July when he swiped a wallet from a vehicle.

Crimes Committed While on Licence

Corrigan’s sentence was extended because he committed these crimes while already on licence. Community Policing Sergeant Kath Rackham said:

“This is good news for those victims targeted by Corrigan, and we’ll continue to take positive and prompt action on all similar reports.”

Police Warn Residents to Stay Vigilant

Sergeant Rackham urged local people to report suspicious activity. She added:

“Residents who are targeted in theft suffer stress, upset and inconvenience so keep passing on information and we will do the rest. If you see or capture on CCTV or dashcam anyone acting suspiciously near vehicles, let us know.”

Top Tips to Protect Your Vehicle

  • Always lock your car and home doors – opportunists try door handles.
  • Fit a dashcam and car alarm.
  • Install strong in-car security locks.
