Teen Stabbed in Shocking Railway Street Attack
A 17-year-old boy was viciously stabbed in the abdomen after a brief confrontation on Railway Street on June 16, 2022. Ahmed Mobarat, 18, had already been harassing the victim with offensive messages online before the attack.
From Online Abuse to Violent Chase
After trying to walk away from the escalating abuse, the victim was pursued by Mobarat, who then plunged a knife into his stomach. The teen sought help at the nearby train station, where paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service began treatment. kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police were called and the victim was rushed to a London hospital for further care.
Knife-Wielding Attacker Caught and Jailed
Police quickly tracked down Mobarat at an address on Byron Road, seizing a blood-stained knife. Charged with unlawful wounding and carrying a knife in public, Mobarat pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court. On January 31, 2023, he was sentenced to two years behind bars.
“This was an unprovoked assault, and it was only by chance that the victim did not suffer a fatal injury,” said PC Catherine Barker, lead investigator. “This case shows the severe consequences young men face when they foolishly carry and use knives.”
“A teenage criminal is now in prison, while his victim tries to rebuild his life after a horrendous attack. My advice? Don’t risk your freedom by bringing a weapon into public – it will cost you dearly.”
