Woman Jailed for Stealing £780 from 90-Year-Old Pensioner in Doncaster
A heartless thief has been locked up for 38 months after robbing a vulnerable 90-year-old pensioner in Doncaster. Nicola Pratt, 35, with no fixed address, pleaded guilty to burglary at Sheffield Crown Court last Saturday.
Planned Trick in Doncaster Shop
On the morning of June 6, Pratt struck up a friendship with the elderly lady in a shop near Balby Bridge. She offered to help the pensioner carry her shopping home – a sinister ruse.
Unwanted Guest Invades Home
Despite the victim’s pleas not to enter, Pratt forced her way inside. Left alone in the living room, she made off with £780 in cash and two ornaments.
Police Slam Callous Crime
When the victim’s carer arrived later that day, the theft was discovered. PC Nicola Blewitt described the offence as “a callous crime committed against an extremely vulnerable lady.”
“Burglary can have a lasting impact on victims and I hope this sentence shows that it will not be tolerated in our communities,” PC Blewitt added.
