Seven-Year-Old Hero Meets Officers Who Saved Her Life
Seven-year-old Noura got a star-studded invite to meet The Duke of Cambridge on Emergency Services Day—a special occasion thanking the NHS and emergency teams nationwide.
Police Officers Who Saved Noura’s Life Reunite With Young Survivor
At the event, Noura met her real-life heroes: PC Ryan Legge and PC Ahmet Mavitunali. These North West Command officers gave her life-saving treatment after her father brutally attacked her at their Brent home in May 2020.
Rapid Police Action Prevented Tragedy
- On 22 May 2020, concerned relatives in Austria alerted police after seeing a chilling photo of Noura and her injured father.
- Police tracked the family to a block of flats in Larch Road NW2 but couldn’t pinpoint the exact flat.
- PCs Legge and Mavitunali stormed multiple flats, finally finding Noura — who had severe stab wounds to her neck and chest.
- They administered emergency first aid and called paramedics, helping to save her life.
Noura was taken to hospital in critical condition and spent three months recovering. Despite fears she might suffer brain damage, she has made a full recovery.
Emotional Reunion and Well-Deserved Praise
Since Noura was unconscious during the attack, she had never met the officers in person—until now. Ahead of the event, the officers picked her up from school and gave her a police car ride to the venue, making the reunion unforgettable and emotional.
“I am immensely proud of Ahmet and Ryan, whose actions at the scene were crucial in helping Noura in this sad and shocking case,” said North West BCU Commander Sara Leach. “It is quite right that both officers be recognised for their quick thinking under what must have been extremely distressing circumstances. They, along with Noura, should be commended for their bravery and resilience.”
Justice Served
Noura’s father was found with self-inflicted stab wounds and taken to hospital. After recovery, he was arrested, charged with attempted murder, and jailed for 22 years.
