Ambulance Window Smashed During Emergency Call – Public Urged to Help Find Culprit
Attack Hits Ambulance Racing to Save Lives
Angry ambulance bosses are hunting thugs who smashed a window on a live emergency vehicle responding to a 999 call. The shocking attack happened around 9.15pm last night on Alcester Road, Moseley, while the crew was rushing to a private medical emergency with blue lights flashing.
Ambulance Taken Out of Action – Costs Running High
The crew escaped without injury, but the smashed ambulance is now off the road, awaiting costly repairs running into hundreds of pounds. Another ambulance was scrambled to reach the patient immediately, but the incident has added pressure to an already stretched service.
Fury from Ambulance Chiefs
“I have to question what goes through the mind of someone to think this is acceptable,” fumed Emergency Services Operations Delivery Director Nathan Hudson. “They could clearly see the ambulance was responding to an emergency. What if it had been rushing their own family member to hospital? This could have ended far worse.”
“We are thankful the crew were unharmed but we wake up to one less ambulance available, all because of idiotic vandalism.”
“We will review CCTV footage and hand it to police. Anyone with info should contact West Midlands Police quoting investigation number 20/1875068/21.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “This is under investigation as criminal damage. Things could have ended far worse. We need witnesses to speak up and help us catch this offender.”
