Blood-Left Burglar Busted and Banged Up for Knockholt Break-In
Burglar Flees Scene After Alarm Sparks Off
Anthony Murray, 37, smashed his way into a Knockholt home on 26 June 2020 using a garden fork and pick axe. He targeted the property on Old London Road, breaking a rear window to gain entry. But just as he piled broken glass outside, the burglar alarm blared, forcing him to make a quick getaway—empty-handed.
Blood Trail Leads Cops to Croydon Crook
Detectives found blood on a stone near a side gate at the scene. Forensic tests confirmed the DNA matched Murray’s. He was arrested more than a month later on 29 July. Further evidence placed him in Knockholt at the time of the crime.
Jail Time for Prolific Crook
Murray, from Lansdowne Road, Croydon, pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court. On 30 October, he was sentenced to two years and seven months behind bars.
“Murray made a brazen attempt to burgle a house in broad daylight but was caught out when an alarm sounded,” said Detective Chris Ellingham.
“He left empty-handed and, having left blood at the scene, we were able to promptly track him down.”
“Murray is a prolific offender and it is only right he is now starting a prison sentence.”
