Vandals Target Late Teen’s Grave Just Days Before Birthday

Northumbria Police are hunting for the scumbags who vandalised the gravestone of Bethany Fisher at Netherton Lane Cemetery in Bedlington.

Bethany, who tragically died aged 19 in a horrific car crash in 2017, had her resting place desecrated between 11pm on August 15 and midday on August 16, 2024. The timing, just before her birthday and days ahead of the seventh anniversary of her death, has deeply upset her family.

On August 19, 2017, Bethany was a passenger in a car that smashed into parked vehicles on Victoria Terrace, Bedlington shortly after celebrating her birthday. The driver was later jailed for six years for causing death by dangerous driving among other offences.

Police Plead for Witnesses to Come Forward

Officers urge anyone with information about the vandalism to step up and help crack the case. This call comes as the grieving family faces a heartbreaking blow during an already painful anniversary.

“We are appealing to the public for any details that could assist our investigation into the damage caused to Bethany’s gravestone,” a police spokesperson said.
