Pensioner Mowed Down in Cranbrook – Driver Charged with Attempted Murder
A 70-year-old pensioner was seriously injured after being hit by a van in Cranbrook. The driver has now been charged with attempted murder.
Crash Shocks Quiet Sandhurst Street

Emergency crews quickly arrived, and the victim was airlifted to a London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Driver Arrested and Charged
The next day, the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a probe that led to the arrest of 58-year-old Charles Wood, from Rye Road, Sandhurst. Wood was charged with attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Known to Victim, Facing Court
Police revealed the suspect and the victim know each other. Wood was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 5 March.
The shocking incident has rocked the local community as they await court proceedings.
