‘Baby P’ Paedo Steven Barker Denied Parole Again
Steven Barker, jailed for abusing Baby P and raping a toddler, has been refused parole. Barker was given a life sentence with a minimum of 10 years for raping a two-year-old girl. He also received a 12-year concurrent sentence for his “major role” in the death of Baby P, real name Peter Connelly.
Baby P’s Horrific Case Shocks Nation
In August 2007, 17-month-old Peter died with over 50 injuries in north London. Despite being on the at-risk register, Peter suffered from a catalogue of abuse. Over eight months, he was visited 60 times by social workers, police, and health professionals—but no one acted decisively.
His abusers were his mother Tracey Connelly, her lover Steven Barker, and their lodger Jason Owen. The case exposed huge failings in child protection services where multiple missed chances could have saved Baby P.
Parole Board Rejects Barker’s Release
A Parole Board spokesperson confirmed, “A panel has not directed the release of Steven Barker at this paper hearing. Under current legislation, Mr Barker will be eligible for another review in two years.”
The Ministry of Justice will set the date for the next review. The Parole Board declined to comment on details of the case.
