Three Teens Jailed for Murder of Uber Eats Driver in Brutal Moped Theft Attack

Brazilian delivery driver Iderval Da Silva, 46, was beaten to death in a savage “cowardly attack” in Battersea, West London, after trying to stop three teenagers stealing his moped.

Life for Teen Killer – Others Get Heavy Sentences

The Old Bailey sentenced 19-year-old Jadan Richards to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 12 years behind bars. His accomplice, 16-year-old Tay Clovey, was jailed for 11-and-a-half years for murder. A 17-year-old who pleaded guilty to manslaughter received a four-year sentence.

Attack Sparked by Attempted Moped Theft Outside Café

The trio spotted Mr Da Silva’s unattended moped outside a Battersea café and tried to snatch it. When the delivery driver tried to stop them, he was brutally set upon in what the court described as “a momentary explosion of short-lived violence.”

Grief-Stricken Son Speaks Out

“I find it very difficult to explain how not having my dad here is affecting me,” said Mr Da Silva’s son, Caique Keven Silva. “Part of me still thinks this hasn’t really happened, that it is only a nightmare from which I will wake up at any time.”

“My dad was there for people, never thinking of himself. No one deserves to lose their father in the way I lost mine.”

Judge Slams Attack as “Unnecessary and Cowardly”

Judge Mark Dennis QC tore into the defendants, saying: “There is no reason to think that any of you were immature for your age at that time, nor that you would not have known that such an unnecessary and cowardly assault was both wrong and wholly unjustified.”

Following the trial, two other teenagers – 18-year-old Jasire Frazer from Wandsworth and a 17-year-old – were cleared of murder and manslaughter. Another 17-year-old was also cleared by the judge halfway through the trial.
