Bromley Woman Jailed for Fatal Battersea Crash After Twerking Tragedy
Adele Okojie-Aidonojie, 23, from Bromley, has been slammed with an 11-year prison sentence after a deadly crash in Battersea. The shocking smash killed a couple who were caught “twerking” in the back of her convertible Mini Cooper.
Drunk and Racing: Mini Cooper Flips, Two Dead
The tragedy happened when Okojie-Aidonojie, drunk and speeding at over 62mph in a 30mph zone, lost control of her Mini. The car flipped on Latchmere Road, throwing out passengers Rida Boutjettif, 24, and Mary Macharia, 23, both killed instantly. Her boyfriend, Ben Sidibe, also survived but suffered a fractured arm and brain bleed.
Judge Condemns “Sheer Madness” Behind Reckless Joyride
At the Old Bailey, Judge Richard Marks KC blasted Okojie-Aidonojie’s actions as “sheer madness.” He dismissed her defence that someone tugged her arm, pointing firmly to her dangerous speed as the cause. The couple hadn’t worn seatbelts and were filmed dancing in the back of the moving car moments before the crash.
The judge offered heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, recognising their devastating grief over the senseless loss.
From Denial to Regret: Apologies Follow Conviction
Despite initially denying dangerous driving—claiming only careless driving—Okojie-Aidonojie later admitted guilt in a letter to the court. She sincerely apologised to the families and Mr Sidibe for the catastrophic crash.
Alongside her jail time, she faces a six-year driving ban on release.
