Man Arrested Outside Buckingham Palace After Throwing Suspected Shotgun Cartridges
A 59-year-old man was detained by police outside Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening after causing a security scare.
Shocking Scene at Palace Gates
David Huber was arrested at around 7 p.m. after he approached the palace gates and threw items, believed to be shotgun cartridges, into the grounds. Although he wasn’t armed with a firearm, officers found he was carrying a knife.
Police Take No Chances
Huber was immediately arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. The area was quickly cordoned off due to concerns over a suspicious bag he carried.
As a precaution, the bag was destroyed in a controlled explosion by bomb disposal experts.
Mental Health Detention, No Terror Links
Following his arrest, Huber was held under the Mental Health Act and admitted to hospital on May 3. He remains in hospital on bail while receiving medical treatment.
Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident, and police have confirmed it is not being treated as a terrorist attack.
