Burglars Busted After Snapping Stolen Loot on Phone
Two crooks have landed behind bars after their own mobile phone photos of stolen goods nailed them to the crime.
Chased and Caught on the M20
Just three days after the break-in, police stopped a suspicious red Peugeot on the M20 near Maidstone. The driver, Rivaldo Toma, was promptly arrested.
Phone Photos Seal Their Fate
Detectives used bodycam footage from a suspect’s flat to match furniture, curtains, and flooring to the background in photos found on Toma’s phone. This clever comparison linked the stolen items straight to the pair.
Jail Time for the Two Burglaries
- Ismail Gjoka, 31, of Station Road, Maidstone, was locked up for three years and two months.
- Rivaldo Toma, 24, no fixed address, got two and a half years behind bars.
Detective Sergeant Simon Clarke, Kent Crime Squad, said: “My team meticulously goes through any potential evidence to track down burglars like Gjoka and Toma. The more offences we connect them to, the longer the sentences and the greater justice for victims.”
“I am pleased the hard work in this investigation led to the arrest, conviction and jailing of two men who relentlessly targeted properties and disrupted people’s lives.”
