Flat linked to antisocial chaos in Newhaven shut down by Sussex Police
Closure order slams door on trouble flat
A flat in Newhaven’s Eastside Place has been shut tight after being at the centre of constant antisocial behaviour, violent incidents, and drug-related problems. Sussex Police secured a full closure order from Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 11 February, forcing the occupant out on the spot. The flat will stay sealed for three months, giving locals some much-needed peace.
Police hope closure brings relief to residents
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector John Adams spoke about the impact: “Residents had been subjected to antisocial and violent incidents for several months. We hope the closure order offers them a break from the disruption and intrusion they’ve endured.”
Inspector Adams also praised the landlords and neighbours for backing police action. “Officers would like to thank both the landlords of Eastside Place and the other residents who cooperated with police throughout.”
Police call on public to report trouble
Sussex Police continue urging locals to report any antisocial behaviour. “Community reports help us map crime hotspots, which is vital for court closure orders and daily patrols,” added Inspector Adams.
If you have info on antisocial activity, report it online or ring 101 to help keep your community safe.
