Detectives Have Made Five Further Arrests Following The Death Of A Man In Erith As They Continue To Appeal For Information

Police were called at approximately 8.50pm on Thursday, 9 February to reports of shots fired on Pembroke Road.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found 24-year-old Kai McGinley suffering with a gunshot injury. Despite the best efforts of emergency services to save him, Kai died at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood, who is leading the investigation, said: “I continue to urge anyone who has information regarding Kai’s murder, or the events of that night to come forward and speak with us.

“We have made a number of arrests but are investigation continues. Anything you know could prove vital in us securing the evidence to convict those responsible.”

On Thursday, 9 into Friday, 10 March, homicide detectives supported by specialist colleagues from across the Met carried out a number of warrants and arrested five people.

A 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Three males were arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

All five remain in custody.
