18-Year-Old Held Over Double Stabbing Murder in South London

An 18-year-old man was arrested this morning on suspicion of murdering two 16-year-olds, Charlie Bartolo and Kearne Solanki. He remains in custody at a south London police station as the investigation intensifies.

Police Launch Murder Probe After Twin Stabbings

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “Today is another step forward in our investigation into this shocking incident. I urge anyone with information about the deaths of Charlie and Kearne to come forward and speak to police.”

The double tragedy unfolded on Saturday, 26 November. Police were called at around 5:10pm after reports of two stabbing victims at separate locations in Abbey Wood and Thamesmead.

  • Charlie Bartolo was found with stab wounds on Sewell Road, Abbey Wood.
  • Kearne Solanki suffered similar injuries on Titmuss Avenue, Thamesmead.

Despite frantic efforts from the Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, both boys tragically died at the scenes.

Two Teenagers Charged, Another Released on Bail

Two males, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with the murders and are due in court on Friday, 2 December.

A 16-year-old arrested on Sunday, 27 November in connection with the murders has since been released on bail. He is scheduled to return to a south London police station in 2023.
