Lambeth man Michael Wynter jailed for vicious rape of unconscious woman
Michael Wynter, 34, of Crayshaw Road, Lambeth, was found guilty at the Old Bailey on Tuesday 30 April of raping a woman at a Pinner address between 2019 and 2021. He was sentenced to seven years behind bars the same day.
Detective praises victim’s courage
Detective Constable Adam Conibeere, who led the investigation, said: “Wynter is an extreme sexual deviant who raped a woman while she was asleep or unconscious. I want to praise the victim-survivor for her incredible strength and heroism throughout the investigation and court process. I hope this outcome brings her some comfort and closure as she moves on with her life.”
DC Conibeere added the victim bravely came forward after lengthy consideration to stop Wynter harming anyone else.
Met vows to tackle violence against women
The Metropolitan Police stressed that combating violence against women and girls is a top priority. They promised to keep removing dangerous offenders from London’s streets while supporting victims at every stage.
Wynter’s dark past and police probe
- Wynter was arrested in December 2021.
- Officers collected communications evidence from both suspect and complainant’s devices.
- A witness statement was also taken from someone the victim confided in during the ordeal.
- Wynter has been on the Sex Offenders Register since 2021 for a child sexual assault conviction dating back to 2002-2003.
- He will now remain on the register for life.
This brutal sentencing sends a clear warning: predators will face justice and victims’ bravery will be honoured.
