DJ Jailed for Sickening Attack on Cancer Patient at Llanelli Club

Leigh Brookfield, 40, a DJ from Llanelli, has landed himself 14 weeks behind bars after a shocking assault on cancer patient Peter Barton. The vile attack took place at Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club on Boxing Day last year.

Urinating Abuse Caught on Snapchat

The court heard how Brookfield, while at the club urinals, urinated on the back of Mr Barton’s trousers — an outrage he then shamelessly posted on Snapchat. The pair had been talking, with Barton having just shared his cancer diagnosis.

“I couldn’t believe someone would do that to another person. I was breathless, and my blood pressure was through the roof. I just feel that his actions were disgusting,” Barton told the court in a victim statement.

‘Extremely Ashamed’ DJ Claims Wake-Up Call

Brookfield’s lawyer, Robert Thomas, admitted his client was “extremely embarrassed, ashamed, and very sorry.” He revealed Brookfield has given up drinking and drugs since the attack, calling it a “wake-up call.”

District Judge Mark Layton hit him with a 14-week jail sentence, plus £500 compensation, a £154 surcharge, and £85 in costs.

Club Bans DJ for Life, Defends Cancer Patient

The Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club slammed Brookfield’s “disgusting” behaviour in a Facebook statement, branding Barton a “valued member.” The club confirmed Brookfield is banned for life, vowing to keep their venue family-friendly.
