The court in Lille sentenced seven Afghan nationals and two Iraqis after finding them guilty of manslaughter and facilitating illegal immigration. These men orchestrated the ill-fated crossing, showing a reckless disregard for human life.
“This sentence sends a clear message: those who profit from people’s misery will be brought to justice,” a National Crime Agency spokesperson said.
