Busted! Dozens Caught in Major Kent Traffic and Crime Crackdown
87 Vehicles Stopped in Harmer Street Sting
On Monday, January 23, officers swooped on Harmer Street, pulling over 87 vehicles in a targeted operation to catch criminals and traffic lawbreakers red-handed.
European Warrant Man Nabbed for Serious Crimes
One driver, stopped for not wearing a seatbelt, turned out to be wanted under a European arrest warrant for domestic abuse and human trafficking. He was swiftly handed over to another police department.
Drugs and Driving Offences Rack Up
- Luis Batusha, 21, from Gravesend, was charged with possession of class A drugs. He was bailed on the spot and will face Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 22.
- Another motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of illegal drugs after being caught without a seatbelt. He’s been released on bail until April 21 while enquiries continue.
- Officers also arrested a man on suspicion of drug offences during the sweep.
Traffic Lawbreakers Fined and Reported
The crackdown led to eight traffic offence reports for drivers caught without licences, insurance, or seatbelts. One brazen motorist ignored a ‘no entry’ sign, while two others ran red lights.
Environmental Health Joins the Fight
Gravesham Council’s environmental health team joined the police, inspecting 17 waste-carrying vehicles and issuing one violation report.
Police Praise Operation’s Success
“This is the latest operation across the district and has yielded some great results,” said Insp Jamie Little of North Kent Local Policing Team. “We’re targeting drivers deliberately breaking the law.”
“Operations like these show we’re not just reacting to crimes but actively patrolling and keeping residents safe.”
