Eleven Arrested in UK’s Biggest Synthetic Opioid Bust

A major drug gang has been smashed after police seized the UK’s largest-ever haul of synthetic opioids. Eleven suspects were arrested following raids in Waltham Forest and Enfield on 24 October.

150,000 Dangerous Pills Found in High-Tech ‘Factory’

At one Waltham Forest address, officers uncovered around 150,000 tablets of Nitazene – a powerful synthetic opioid – being produced in a sophisticated setup. Alongside the pills, cops confiscated a pill pressing machine, loads of Class A and B drugs, a firearm, £60,000 in cash, £8,000 in cryptocurrency, plus mobile phones and laptops.

Drugs Sold on Dark Web Using Encrypted Chats

Police believe the gang used the Dark Web and encrypted messaging apps to peddle their deadly products nationwide.

Between 21 August and 21 November, 11 people were arrested and charged with conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs.

Warning: Spot the Signs of Synthetic Opioid Overdose

Detective Superintendent Helen Rance, leading the investigation, warned: “Illegal drugs should never be consumed. If you or someone else shows symptoms of synthetic opioid use, seek medical help immediately.”

Signs of synthetic opioid overdose include:

  • Pinpoint, narrowed pupils
  • Drowsiness or loss of consciousness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Cold, clammy skin
  • Blue or grey lips and fingernails
  • Low blood pressure or slow heart rate

If you see these symptoms, call 999 immediately and request an ambulance. Describe the symptoms in detail. Do not touch any drugs you find – report them to the authorities.
