Seven Found Guilty Over Brutal London Murder
Seven men have been convicted for the cold-blooded murder of 24-year-old Kai McGinley in a “planned and targeted execution” on a south-east London street.
Chaos on Pembroke Road: Drugs and Drive-By Shooting
Kai McGinley was shot dead inside a stolen Mini on Pembroke Road, Erith, on 9 February 2023. The Old Bailey heard the killing was “almost certainly” linked to drug dealings.
Four men – Enriko Spahiu (21), Bradlee Reeve (34), Kai Osibodu (25), and Anthony Wallder (21) – were found guilty of murder after deliberately ramming the victim’s Mini with a Land Rover and opening fire. They were also convicted of causing grievous bodily harm to two passengers but cleared of attempted murder charges.
Shotguns Fired at Close Range
Prosecutor Brian O’Neill KC revealed the Land Rover and a Peugeot circled the victim’s car before several men jumped out and fired four to five shotgun blasts from close range, fatally wounding Kai.
Passenger William Burton told the court how the Land Rover smashed into their car, forcing him to duck as he heard five loud bangs. A masked gunman fired through the smashed window, killing Kai on the spot.
Another passenger, Norman Samura, escaped by diving through a broken window but was attacked with a machete, receiving hand injuries.
Escape and Denials
CCTV showed the Peugeot picking up the men after the attack and being scrapped the next day at an industrial estate. Only three of the accused gave evidence, each denying being at the scene during the shooting.
The jury spent 108 hours weighing up the serious case, which Judge Judy Khan KC described as “very important.” Sentencing for all seven men is set for July.
