Tragic Bromley E-Scooter Crash Kills Teenager
Police are hunting for witnesses after a fatal crash in Bromley claimed the life of 16-year-old Junior Shay Alexander. The teenager died following a collision between his e-scooter and a car in the early hours of Sunday, 18 July.
Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested
The smash happened on Southborough Lane at about 1.20am. Emergency crews found Junior with serious injuries and rushed him to a central London hospital, but he sadly passed away.
The driver, in a red Fiat Punto, fled the scene but was later found in Southwood Close. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving under the influence. He’s now on bail ahead of a court date in early August.
Family Plea and Ongoing Investigation
Junior’s heartbroken parents said: “We are still in shock and struggling to come to terms with the fact that our beautiful son is gone. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and grandson. All who knew him loved him.”
They pleaded with anyone with information to come forward.
Missing E-Scooter and Witness Appeal
Officers are also investigating the theft of Junior’s e-scooter from the collision scene. A 46-year-old man was arrested after turning up at a south London police station with the scooter but has been released under investigation.
