Heaven Nightclub Bouncer Charged with Rape
A bouncer at London’s famed Heaven nightclub has been charged with rape. Morenikeji Adewole, 47, also known by the names Olu Julius and Olusolu Alabi, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 14. The man lives in Dunlop Close, Dartford.
Adewole was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Southwark Crown Court on December 11.
Alleged Attack Sparks Closure of Popular Nightspot
The alleged assault took place on November 1 near Heaven, a popular venue close to Charing Cross. The victim reportedly tried to alert club staff but was ignored.
In response, Westminster Council’s licensing committee has slapped a temporary 28-day suspension on Heaven’s licence. The nightclub has closed its doors as of November 15, pending a full hearing.
“These incidents raise serious concerns about the venue’s ability to fulfil its obligations to protect its customers, particularly in relation to safeguarding,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
Safety Concerns and Licensing Under Scrutiny
The licence suspension follows a request from the Metropolitan Police amid deep public safety concerns. Heaven’s management must now address these issues at the upcoming licensing hearing.
This case has put London’s nightlife safety protocols under the microscope, sparking calls for tighter protections for clubbers across the city.
