A Liverpool man has been jailed for 16 years and 8 months for running a massive drug conspiracy. Phillip Lam, 33, from Childwall, was sentenced today at Liverpool Crown Court for supplying heroin, cocaine, and cannabis.
Lam’s Crime Spree Exposed
Lam, who appeared via video link as he’s already behind bars for card fraud, admitted to conspiracy charges involving huge quantities of drugs:
- 24kg of cocaine (Class A)
- 6kg of heroin (Class A)
- 158kg of cannabis (Class B)
- Importing 318kg of cannabis
- Producing cannabis
Crackdown Linked to Operation Venetic
This conviction is part of Operation Venetic, an international effort targeting criminals using encrypted phones to dodge the cops. Detectives traced Lam’s EncroChat handle “wearydog,” also known as “lammy,” through extensive investigation.
Lam’s messages revealed his personal life, mentioning his kids and his partner’s milestone birthday in September 2020. He even directed associates to collect drugs from his nan’s address. Before his card fraud trial, he warned he’d be wanted.
Police Send Strong Warning to Dealers
Detective Sergeant James Boardman said: “Lam’s criminal activity to flood the streets with drugs was prolific – and he pleaded guilty to this.
“Our work to catch those selling Class A and B drugs continues. I hope this sends a strong message to criminals that we will take action and bring them to justice.
“Crime doesn’t pay – we’ll be relentless in pursuing offenders.”
