Woman Jailed for Brutal Knife Attack in Maidstone Streets

Attack Under False Pretence

Chelsea Dunn, 31, was locked up for four years after a savage knife attack in Maidstone. The victim was lured out on the promise of a cigarette swap before Dunn suddenly plunged a kitchen knife into her. The shocking assault happened near Sutton Road in the early hours of 7 November 2024.

Stabbed Multiple Times and Left to Flee

As the two women met, Dunn pulled out the hidden blade and stabbed her victim several times. The injured woman, seriously wounded, managed to call for help and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. Dunn fled on foot but was tracked down by Kent Police that same day.

Confession and Court Sentence

Arrested at her home on Darwin Avenue, Dunn admitted the attack was linked to her cocaine misuse but denied being under the influence during the stabbing. Charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place, she pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court.

On 23 May 2025, Dunn was sentenced to four years behind bars, plus a two-year extended licence period. She was also slapped with a ten-year restraining order to protect her victim.

Police Condemn Knife Crime

“Dunn knew the victim and met her on the pretence of sharing cigarettes, but was secretly carrying a knife which she suddenly produced to carry out a sustained and terrifying attack,” said Detective Constable James Kersey of Kent Police. “The victim was left in genuine fear for her life. As well as the lifelong physical scars, this unprovoked assault has had a huge psychological impact on her wellbeing and ability to feel safe.”

“There is never an excuse for carrying a knife and the public are all too aware, as are we, that the impact of knife crime can often be devastating. I do hope the victim can take comfort and reassurance now that Dunn has been jailed.”
