Suspect Arrested During MPS Sting

The 37-year-old was nabbed on April 28 in the British control zone at Coquelles, France. The arrest came during a planned operation by the Metropolitan Police Service Counter Terrorism Command.

Serious Terrorism Allegations

He faced allegations of preparing terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and belonging to a banned organisation under Section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000. Police held him under PACE powers, then extended detention under the Terrorism Act 2000.

Released After CPS Review

With his detention warrant set to expire on May 10, investigators and the Crown Prosecution Service carried out extensive inquiries. On May 7, the man was freed with no further action taken.

The police have confirmed the investigation has now closed.
