Tragedy struck Canary Wharf just before 10pm on October 30 when a pedestrian was fatally hit on Aspen Way. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but sadly, the 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at once.

Driver Flees After Fatal Hit-and-Run

The driver sped off before police arrived. But hours later, on October 31, officers arrested a 20-year-old man. He faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, and failing to stop.

The suspect has since been released on bail as investigations press on.

Police Launch Urgent Witness Appeal

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victim during this tragic time,” said Detective Sergeant Ed Rulton from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

“Officers are working hard to piece together what happened that evening, but we’d like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or noticed anything unusual in the area.

“We urge you to come forward — even the smallest detail could be crucial.”
