East London Rapist Hafiz Ahmad Jailed for 11 Years
A Redbridge man has been locked up for 11 years after a chilling crime spree of repeated rape came to light. Hafiz Ahmad, 29, faced justice at Snaresbrook Crown Court on March 28, following a relentless Met Police probe.
Brave Victim’s Testimony Cracks Case
The investigation began in November 2020 when a courageous woman reported she had been raped four times by Ahmad at his own home. Despite early hurdles due to limited evidence, specialist officers never gave up. They worked closely with the victim, who revealed abuse dating back to 2018.
Detectives swiftly arrested Ahmad the day after the victim’s report. Text messages uncovered during the inquiry showed the victim confronting Ahmad over his crimes. The Crown Prosecution Service charged him in May 2022, leading to his conviction in October 2023.
Victim’s Courage Praised by Police
“Despite pressure to drop her allegations, the victim’s bravery helped secure a conviction and keep a violent offender behind bars,” said PC Emma Porter, a Sexual Offences Officer in east London.
The Metropolitan Police continues to target dangerous offenders to create safer communities for women and girls. Tackling violence against women remains a top priority.
Rising Charges Highlight Urgent Need for Action
Latest stats show a jump in rape and serious sexual offence charges across the UK. Over 500 serious sexual offences, including approximately 200 rape cases, were charged last year alone. The conviction of Ahmad sends a clear message: predators will face the full force of the law.
The Met’s commitment to justice ensures survivors’ voices are heard and offenders are held to account.
