Life for Killer Who Murdered Mum-of-Two in Farnborough
Adam Watson, 37, has been sentenced to life behind bars with a minimum of 21 years for the brutal murder of Samantha Holden, 56, in her Farnborough home. The shocking killing rocked the community in September 2022.
Chilling Details from Winchester Crown Court
At Winchester Crown Court, jurors heard how Watson strangled and suffocated Samantha Holden at her Church Road West property on 9 September 2022. His DNA was found on her neck and under her fingernails, sealing his fate. Watson was arrested in Belgium two days later, extradited to the UK, and charged in February 2023.
Police were called to the scene after reports of a sudden death at 4:12 pm the same day. Watson was convicted on 2 September 2024 and sentenced ten days later.
Family Relief as Justice Is Served
“My family and I are relieved that there is now justice for our beautiful mum. We love her and miss her very much and now we can move forward with her in our hearts. We are very grateful to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and the prosecution team who fought hard to get justice,” Samantha’s family said.
Detective Inspector Howard Broadribb, who led the investigation, praised the family’s courage.
“Our thoughts are with Samantha’s loved ones. This was a senseless, horrific crime, and we hope the sentence today helps them find some comfort. Adam Watson is a callous killer. Tackling serious violence remains a top priority for us, and we urge victims to come forward,” said DI Broadribb.
