Police Warn of Rising Domestic Abuse and Offer Support
“This was a dreadful incident with mother and son suffering terrible injuries,” said Detective Constable Deb Bullman. “Remarkably, the little boy has made an astonishing recovery, though he will need ongoing monitoring. His mother still faces physical and mental scars and is receiving support.”
DC Bullman added domestic abuse remains a top priority. Police have seen a 17% rise in domestic-related incidents since the pandemic began but vow to keep the pressure on offenders.
“We respond to over 200 domestic abuse incidents daily. If you don’t feel safe, please seek help. We have specially trained officers working with support groups and charities to protect victims and bring perpetrators to justice.”
