Knife Attack Outside City Pub Lands Man in Court
Kyle Quinn, 22, from Cheshunt, has been found guilty of unlawful wounding and carrying an offensive weapon after a brutal stabbing outside a City of London pub. He was handed a two-year prison sentence suspended for 24 months, plus 240 hours of unpaid work and a rehabilitation order. Quinn must also pay compensation and court surcharges.
Violent Scene on Bishopsgate
The attack happened on October 22, 2022, outside the Woodin Shades pub on Bishopsgate. Quinn got into a fight and pulled a knife, stabbing the victim twice in the head. The victim also suffered a stab wound to the back, but his coat stopped the blade from penetrating fully. The injuries were serious and life-threatening.
Victim Shows Bravery, Quinn Arrested at Airport
“This was a nasty attack which could have easily led to the victim dying from his injuries. Our thoughts are with the victim, who has shown great bravery in coming forward and supporting our investigation.” – Detective Constable Sam Lowe, City of London Police
Quinn fled the scene and the country after the stabbing. Police launched a major investigation, using CCTV, witness interviews, and forensic tests to track him down. By November 2022, they had identified Quinn. When he returned to the UK in January 2023, officers arrested him at Stansted Airport.
Police Send Warning to Knife Carriers
“If you come to the City with the intent of using a knife to harm others, we will find you and put you before the courts.” – DC Sam Lowe
Quinn appeared at Inner London Crown Court on July 8, 2024. After a three-day trial, Mr. Justice Boyle sentenced him last week. This case sends a clear message: knife crime will not be tolerated in the capital.
