Shisha lounge attack ends in fatal stabbing in Birmingham
Night out turns deadly at Stratford Road café
A 45-year-old man tried to play peacemaker during a heated dispute at the Relax Cafe shisha lounge in Birmingham. Trouble began when Adam, a patron, repeatedly hassled a woman enjoying her night out. Staff intervened and asked Adam to leave, but he refused. He was eventually escorted to the entrance.
Knife pulled in shocking confrontation
After staff spoke to Adam about his behaviour, a 46-year-old man, Mr Xuseen, joined the group. Tempers flared, and in a sudden burst of violence, Adam pulled out a knife, stabbing Mr Xuseen in the chest.
Despite efforts from onlookers to help, Mr Xuseen died at the scene from his injuries.
Adam arrested and convicted
Adam left the café but surrendered himself to police the following day. Claiming to have no memory of the attack, he was informed he might have stabbed someone. Detectives seized clothing from Adam’s home that matched CCTV footage from the night.
After gathering statements from witnesses and the victim’s friends, police pieced together the fatal events. Adam, from Stratford Road, has been found guilty of murder and awaits sentencing.
Investigator condemns senseless violence
“Mr Xuseen lost his life because of a senseless attack,” said Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, who led the probe. “Adam initially claimed blackout due to alcohol, but the story changed during trial.”
“His threatening behaviour escalated over the night. For a man to die simply because someone asked him to calm down is tragic. Our priority was securing justice for Mr Xuseen’s family and friends.”
“We hope today’s verdict offers them some answers and a measure of closure.”
