PCSO Jamal Robinson Cleared of Charges After Jury Verdict
Jamal Robinson, 29, from Ventnor Villas, Hove, was handed a clean slate on Friday, September 16, after a five-day trial at Lewes Crown Court. The Brighton-based Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) faced two charges but was acquitted by the jury.
Incident and Investigation
Robinson met the woman while off duty in a Brighton bar on the night of December 14, 2019. Following allegations, he was promptly arrested and suspended from duty.
Robinson stepped down from his role in April 2020 amid the investigation.
Police Response
Detective Constable Laura Mitchell, leading the case, said:
“It was important that this case was decided by a jury, and we are grateful to those members of the public who carefully considered all of the evidence presented before the court. We acknowledge and respect the decision they came to.”
She added, “This has been a lengthy investigation and I’d like to thank all those who assisted with our enquiries and the subsequent court process for their support and patience.”
