Canterbury Bar Rape Probe: Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

Nightmare at The Loft Bar

Detectives are hunting for witnesses after a woman was raped in a Canterbury bar. The shocking attack happened at The Loft Bar on St Margaret’s Street around midnight on Saturday, 5 February 2022.

Calls for Witnesses Who Passed the Ladies’ Toilets

The victim was in the upstairs ladies’ toilets when the assault took place. Officers believe others were walking to and from the toilets at the time and may have seen something useful, even if they didn’t realise it.

Suspect Arrested – Police Still Investigating

A 36-year-old man from Canterbury was arrested shortly after on suspicion of rape. He’s currently on police bail until 4 March 2022 as inquiries continue.

Police Appeal: Any Detail Could Crack the Case

Officers want to hear from anyone who was at The Loft Bar that night, especially those who used the upstairs toilets. “Any detail, no matter how small, could be vital,” they say.
