York Man Jailed for 8 Years Over Child Sex Offences
A York man has been locked up for eight years after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a child. Kyril John McClean, 27, from Yorkersgate, Malton, was sentenced today at York Crown Court for offending against a 15-year-old girl back in 2016.
Lifetime Sex Offender Registration and Ban Orders
McClean faces a four-year extended licence after his prison term. He’s also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the sex offenders register for life. The guilty verdict came after a week-long trial in March 2019, with sentencing delayed until today by Judge Andrew Stubbs.
Police Praise Brave Victim and Witnesses
“I welcome the sentence passed today by the court, which reflects the seriousness and gravity of the offending against the victim by McClean and shows that offences of this kind are completely unacceptable,” said Detective Constable Tracey Brewster.
“I would like to thank the victim and witnesses for their bravery in coming forward and giving evidence. Without them, securing these convictions would not have been possible.”
“Myself and my colleagues remain fully committed to protecting victims and the public of North Yorkshire, ensuring offenders like McClean are behind bars where they can do no more harm.”
