Police Appeal For Witnesses Following Stabbing Incident In Stockport

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are appealing for witnesses and information following a disturbing incident that unfolded in Stockport, leaving a 16-year-old male requiring surgery for a stabbing injury to his hand.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 13, 2023, when officers responded to reports of a burglary at an address on Queen’s Drive in Heaton Mersey. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered the injured teenager, who was promptly taken for surgery. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

Detective Sergeant Kirsty Pierce of GMP’s Stockport CID expressed that this appears to be an isolated attack. She mentioned that police have heightened patrols in the local community to address concerns arising from this incident.

The attack took place just after midnight on Wednesday. It is believed that three males responsible for breaking into the home and carrying out the attack arrived in a white vehicle, possibly an estate car. This vehicle was observed traveling down Queen’s Drive and subsequently parking at the junction with Thornfield Drive.

Following the assault, the three individuals swiftly fled the scene, jumping into the vehicle, which sped off in the direction of Mauldeth Road in Heaton Mersey.

GMP is urging anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam, CCTV, or ring doorbell footage depicting the white vehicle between 12:15 am and 12:30 am on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, to come forward and contact the police. Information can be provided by calling 0161 856 9790 or the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, individuals can report information via the GMP website using the provided report tool: [www.gmp.police.uk](www.gmp.police.uk).

For those who prefer to remain anonymous, details can also be submitted to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, at 0800 555 111.
