Herne Bay thief nabbed after officers spot car parked on double yellows – now behind bars for over a year!
Quick Thinking Cops Crack Down on Shoplifting Spree
Naomi Denton-Younger sparked an impressive police swoop after being spotted in a car illegally parked on double yellow lines on Wednesday 11 January. Though she tried to dodge trouble by giving a fake name, sharp-eyed officers instantly recognised her as a repeat shoplifter. She was swiftly arrested.
Chocolate Bars, Whisky & Salmon: The Costly Crime Spree
- Boxing Day: Swiped 53 chocolate bars worth £105 from the Co-op in Mortimer Street.
- Day after Boxing Day, 7pm: Helped herself to three bottles of whisky over £100 at Tesco, Sea Street – and legged it without paying.
- 3 January, 8pm: Walked out of Morrisons beach Street with two joints of beef (£36) tucked in her bag.
- 4 January, 9.45pm: Back at Tesco, Sea Street, hide seven packs of fresh salmon in her jacket and made off unpaid again.
CCTV nailed Denton-Younger for all four thefts.
Sentenced and Locked Up
From High Street, Herne Bay, the 31-year-old faced four counts of shoplifting plus resisting arrest and refusing a class A drug test. At Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 12 January, she admitted every charge and was sentenced to 54 weeks behind bars.

“Naomi Denton-Younger is a prolific shoplifter in the Herne Bay area,” said PC David Cross. “Her actions hurt local businesses and the community. Our officers worked hard to bring her to justice. We’re glad she is now off the streets and can no longer continue her criminal behaviour.”
