Detective Caught Using Police Car for Personal Use
Detective Constable Dean Roberts, of the South Area BCU, was slammed for breaching several professional standards. Between March and April 2019, he allegedly took an unmarked police vehicle for solo joyrides while off-duty—without permission.
Speeding and Fuel Fraud Added to Charges
- DC Roberts reportedly broke the national speed limit during these private trips.
- He also used the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) fuel card to fill up petrol for personal use.
Gross Misconduct Confirmed — Instant Dismissal
The hearing panel, chaired by Mr Christopher McKay, concluded all allegations amounted to gross misconduct. DC Roberts was swiftly dismissed without notice.
