Knife Fight in Croydon Caught on CCTV: Four Teens Arrested
A CCTV operator in Croydon spotted a chilling knife fight just after 6pm on Thursday, 24 March. Four males, all armed with blades, clashed near Frith Road, sparking a swift police response.
Rapid Response Nets Four Suspects
Officers from the South Area Violence Suppression Unit and the Met’s Violent Crime Taskforce raced to the scene. Using CCTV tracking, they quickly located all four suspects.
- Two 18-year-olds were caught after a foot chase in Duppas Hill Terrace.
- The other two, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on Church Road.
Police recovered three deadly weapons – two machetes and a Rambo knife – brandished during the fight as caught on camera.
Police Crackdown on Violent Crime in Croydon
“This type of violent behaviour has no place on our streets and I hope the speedy and decisive action of Met officers demonstrates our commitment to tackling this,” said Detective Superintendent Lewis Collins of the South Area Basic Command Unit.
Collins added: “Our Violence Suppression Unit provides a strong presence in violence hotspots across Croydon, Sutton, and Bromley. Our priority is clear – apprehend those intent on violent acts.”
He confirmed violent crime is falling thanks to relentless police efforts but warned: “We are not complacent and will continue to work closely with communities and local authorities to keep London’s streets safe.”
All four suspects are now on bail, pending further investigation on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and affray.
