Repeat Shoplifter Busted for Stealing 12 Cadbury Easter Eggs
Joshua Chambers, 40, has been jailed for three months after nicking a dozen Cadbury Easter eggs from Asda in Bexleyheath. This crook’s latest heist took place at the Crook Log store on March 12.
Multiple Thefts Caught on Camera
Chambers isn’t new to the crime scene. He also stole from the Co-op on Pickford Lane twice – on February 28 and March 9. At Bexley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 12, he pled guilty to three counts of shoplifting.
History of Theft Spree
Far from a one-off, Chambers has a notorious rap sheet.
- In September 2019, he did 16 weeks behind bars for thefts in Sidcup and Welling.
- During that bust, police caught him being chased by Tesco staff on Bellegrove Road with five boxes of Ferrero Rocher chocolates stashed on him.
- From February to July 2019, he swiped nearly £1,000 worth of wine and chocolate from two Co-op stores at The Oval and Blendon Road.
Community Fed Up as Shoplifting Hits Local Business
Chambers’ ongoing offences spotlight the growing problem of shoplifting hitting local shops hard and troubling residents. His jail term is a stark warning to repeat offenders.
Police Hit Back Against Repeat Offenders
“Shoplifting is a serious offence that impacts businesses and the community. We are committed to addressing these crimes and ensuring that repeat offenders are held accountable for their actions,” said a local police spokesperson.
The community is hopeful Chambers’ jail time will deter future crooks and help create a safer environment for shoppers and shop owners alike.
