Rapist Samsidi D’Souza-N’Gom Found Guilty at Old Bailey
In a hard-hitting victory for justice, Samsidi D’Souza-N’Gom, 31, from Marshall Road, N17, has been convicted of rape at the Old Bailey. The guilty verdict came down on February 19, following a detailed probe by the North West Rape & Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) team.
D’Souza-N’Gom faces sentencing on March 21 and looks set to receive a hefty prison term.
How the Crime Unfolded
The horrifying attack took place on September 2, 2019, at a property on Osidge Lane, Barnet. The victim, a woman in her 20s, reported being raped after falling asleep at the suspect’s home.
According to the court, the pair had been out drinking with friends the night before at a Hackney bar. CCTV footage confirmed they left together, visited a taxi office, then headed to D’Souza-N’Gom’s flat.
The victim woke to find herself being sexually assaulted by D’Souza-N’Gom. She bravely reported the crime immediately and received specialist police support.
Expert Police Work Nails the Guilty Verdict
Spearheaded by Detective Constable Alan Wong from the RASSO team, the investigation pieced together hours of CCTV footage and numerous witness accounts. This painstaking work solidly backed the victim’s testimony.
“Her courage in coming forward and assisting with our enquiries was pivotal,” said DC Wong. “The support from witnesses helped us build a clear timeline for the jury, which led to the guilty verdict.”
D’Souza-N’Gom denied the charges, claiming the encounter was consensual. But the jury was unconvinced and found the evidence overwhelming.

Detective Inspector Richard Lewsley stressed the importance of reporting sexual assault and promised thorough investigations with full victim support.
“Rape and sexual assault are serious crimes,” said DI Lewsley. “We take every allegation seriously and encourage survivors to come forward – justice can be achieved.”
