A man from Merseyside was reportedly blackmailed for £3,000 after private computer files were hacked and held hostage. The victim claimed he was forced to pay up to regain access to stolen photographs.
Suspect Caught Behind Bars
Detectives from Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate zeroed in on a culprit from HMP Standford Hill, Isle of Sheppey. Lee Hemans, 39, allegedly pulled off the cybercrime while inside prison walls.
Multiple Charges for Prison Tech Smuggling
Hemans now faces a slew of charges including blackmail, three counts of Computer Misuse Act breaches, and five offences for possessing banned items behind bars. These include mobile phones, SIM cards, and a Wi-Fi dongle.
He is set to appear in court soon, with the hearing date still pending.
