Seven Dead, 53 Injured in Fiery Bus Crash in Thailand
A deadly crash in Thailand’s Prachinburi Province has left seven dead and 53 injured after a passenger bus slammed into a trailer truck and burst into flames early Monday morning.
Collision on Dangerous Mountain Road
The horrific collision happened around 2:00 AM on a downhill stretch from Pu Khao Salathon Court toward Kabin Buri in Na Di District. The bus, carrying 60 passengers, was travelling from Nong Khai to Rayong when it smashed into the back of the trailer truck.
Fire Erupts After Impact
The impact caused the trailer’s rear wheels to ignite, quickly spreading fire across part of the bus. Emergency crews, including Nu May Rescue volunteers, rushed to the scene to pull survivors from the blazing wreckage. They transported the injured to nearby hospitals.
Investigation Underway – Fatigue or Brake Failure Suspected
Authorities are probing the crash, with early reports pointing to possible driver fatigue or brake failure. Surveillance footage, road conditions, and witness accounts are being examined, including interviews with the trailer truck driver and survivors.
“We are doing everything we can to support those affected and determine the cause of this terrible accident,” said a local police spokesperson.
Safety Concerns Raised Over Overnight Bus Travel
The tragedy has sparked renewed worries about the safety of long-distance overnight bus journeys across Thailand’s rural and mountainous highways. Rescue teams described the scene as “chaotic and heartbreaking” and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
This is a developing story. More updates will follow as the investigation unfolds.
