Southampton Man Jailed for Stalking, Assault and Drug Crimes
A Southampton man has been locked up for seven and a half years after a shocking crime spree involving stalking, violent assault, drug possession, and dangerous driving.
High-Speed Attack on Ex-Girlfriend
Lewis Ball-Smith, 20, of Linacre Road pleaded guilty at Southampton Crown Court to multiple serious offences. In June, he stole a KTM 950 Supermoto bike from Denmead before using it to terrorise his former partner in Southampton city centre.
Ball-Smith mounted the pavement and sped at his ex, forcing her to flee for safety into a bank. Their relationship had ended in May, but he bombarded her with 20 to 30 calls daily from hidden numbers and used fake Facebook accounts to send threatening messages.
Drugs and Dangerous Driving
Six days after stalking his ex, Ball-Smith crashed the stolen KTM on Northam Bridge. Police found him carrying cocaine and heroin, with evidence pointing to intent to supply Class A drugs.
Brutal Assault with Tyre Iron
In a separate violent episode in October, Ball-Smith followed a man on Copsewood Road. He jumped from his silver Volkswagen Golf and struck the victim’s head with a tyre iron, fracturing his skull.
Officer Condemns Ball-Smith’s Recklessness
“Ball-Smith has caused significant harm to his victims, showing little regard for others and putting people’s wellbeing at serious risk with his selfish and reckless acts,” said investigating officer DC Shaun Docker. “This custodial sentence is a welcome start so his victims can begin to move on with their lives.”
Ball-Smith’s seven and a half year sentence sends a strong message against stalking, violent crime, and drug dealing in Southampton.
