Teen Arrested Over Fiery Blaze at Prestigious London Oratory School
A 16-year-old boy has denied arson charges after setting fire to the London Oratory School in West London. The blaze sparked a massive emergency response, with ten fire engines and 70 firefighters rushing to the scene.
Fire Rips Through School Atrium
The fire broke out in the atrium of the four-story school building on Seagrave Road, Fulham, late last December. The London Oratory is famed for its 160-year history and famous former pupils, including the children of ex-PM Tony Blair and former Deputy PM Sir Nick Clegg.
The blaze caused significant damage to part of the atrium but, thankfully, no one was hurt.
Firefighters From Across London Battle The Flames
Fire crews from Fulham, Chelsea, Kensington, Wandsworth, Hammersmith, Clapham, Lambeth, and Soho stations all joined forces to tackle the inferno. Their combined efforts quickly brought the situation under control.
Legal Drama Unfolds
The teenager was arrested soon after the fire and charged with arson. He appeared in custody at Highbury Youth Court to face the allegations. The case remains ongoing, with further court hearings expected.
The London Oratory School educates boys aged 7 to 18 and girls from 16 to 18, boasting notable alumni like actor Simon Callow and trade union leader Mick Whelan. The school community remains shaken but grateful no one was injured in the fire.
