Three Held in Massive £19 Million Dover Drug Bust
£19m Worth of Cocaine Seized in Separate Hauls
Three suspects were arrested following major drug raids at the Port of Dover this week. Authorities uncovered two huge cocaine shipments hidden in HGVs bound for the UK.
In one lorry, officers found a void in the floor containing 140 kilos of cocaine – with a jaw-dropping street value of £14 million. A second HGV, reportedly carrying toy building blocks, held two holdalls stuffed with 50 kilos of the Class A drug, worth around £5 million.
Suspects from Netherlands and Czech Republic
Gerrit Van Eckeveld, 62, from Nieuwegein in the Netherlands, was arrested over the 140 kilos and has been charged with importing cocaine. Meanwhile, two Czech nationals were arrested in connection with the 50 kilos haul but later released under investigation as the National Crime Agency (NCA) continues its probe.
Investigation Underway
The NCA is continuing its enquiries to unravel the full scale of the smuggling operation. The massive seizures highlight ongoing efforts to tackle drug trafficking through Britain’s busiest ports.
