Youth Gangs Lure and Stab Man to Death in Chilling London Attack
22-Year-Old Abdi Murdered After Being Set Up
In May 2021, 24-year-old Abdirizak Hassan, known as Abdi, was tricked into visiting a flat in SW15’s Dowdeswell Close. Once there, he was ambushed and stabbed in the chest in a brutal attack that lasted several minutes.
Three Teen Suspects Caught and Convicted
- Elijah Roye, 18, of Carey Gardens, Wandsworth, found guilty of murder.
- Muhammed Danso, 18, and a 15-year-old boy (name withheld) acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter.
All three were convicted at Kingston Crown Court on Friday 27 May and will be sentenced on 29 July.
Investigation Uncovered Chilling Lure Scheme
Police were called early on 6 May after Abdi was found with stab wounds at the property. It emerged that the group used a vulnerable resident’s phone to lure Abdi under false pretences, pretending the woman wanted to buy drugs from him.
The gang arrived at the flat owned by a vulnerable person on the afternoon of 5 May, forced the woman’s phone into action to set the trap, then violently assaulted Abdi when he arrived at 17:20.
Family and Police Speak Out
“Abdi was a well-loved son, brother, and friend. Funny, clever and big-hearted. We miss him dearly and will cherish our memories forever,” said the victim’s family.
Detective Inspector Adam Guttridge said, “This case shows the deadly grip drugs have on young lives. Thanks to CCTV, phone data, and brave witnesses, three dangerous offenders face lengthy prison sentences. While this won’t bring Abdi back, hopefully it offers some closure to his family.”
